Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
January 2025
Introduction
This statement is made pursuant to Section 54(1), Part 6 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the “Act”) and outlines the steps taken by Peretz Braids, Wigs & Cosmetics (“Peretz”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) during the financial year ending 31 August 2024 to identify, prevent, and mitigate the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chain.
Peretz operates with a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, servitude, child labour, and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all aspects of our business and to ensuring our suppliers and partners uphold the same standards.
About Us
Peretz Braids, Wigs & Cosmetics is a UK-based provider of premium hair care products, wigs, and cosmetics, offering bespoke services to diverse customers. Our mission is to empower beauty through ethical sourcing, skillful craftsmanship, and personalised care. We work with domestic and international suppliers to source raw materials and finished products, primarily within the beauty and hair industry.
Our Supply Chain
We recognise that the beauty and cosmetics industry has supply chains that can be vulnerable to unethical labour practices, especially in the sourcing of human hair and raw materials. Our supply chain includes suppliers from the UK, Europe, and occasionally Asia and Africa. We actively assess these partnerships to ensure all products are sourced and produced under fair, humane, and lawful conditions.
Policies and Governance
To promote transparency and reduce the risk of modern slavery in our business:
-
We have implemented an Ethical Sourcing and Supply Chain Policy, which clearly states our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery.
-
All employees, contractors, and suppliers are required to adhere to our Code of Conduct, which includes principles of dignity, respect, lawful employment, and anti-discrimination.
-
A Whistleblowing Policy allows employees and stakeholders to confidentially report any concerns, including unethical labour practices, without fear of retaliation.
-
Our Supplier Code of Ethics mandates that all partners:
-
Comply with local and international labour laws.
-
Do not use forced, bonded, or involuntary labour.
-
Do not employ workers under the minimum legal working age.
-
Provide safe, hygienic working conditions.
-
Respect freedom of association and collective bargaining rights.
-
Uphold fair pay and working hours.
-
Due Diligence and Risk Assessment
We undertake careful due diligence when onboarding suppliers, particularly those in high-risk regions or sectors. This includes:
-
Reviewing supplier modern slavery policies and public statements.
-
Evaluating country- and sector-specific risk indicators.
-
Requiring contractual commitments to uphold the Modern Slavery Act and related ethical standards.
Where concerns arise, we investigate and, if necessary, terminate supplier relationships.
Training and Awareness
To support our commitment:
-
All staff receive training on identifying and responding to signs of modern slavery.
-
Our management team regularly reviews our ethical standards and compliance.
-
Awareness campaigns are conducted to reinforce our values and expectations.
Ongoing Monitoring and Review
We periodically review our supply chains and internal practices to ensure ongoing compliance. As a small yet growing business, we are scaling our compliance infrastructure to match our expansion, maintaining vigilance in sourcing and employment.
Where a supplier is found to be in breach of our standards, we will take immediate corrective action, up to and including contract termination.
Board Approval and Sign-off
This statement has been reviewed and approved by the management of Peretz Braids, Wigs & Cosmetics and represents our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 August 2024.
We remain fully committed to improving our practices and working collaboratively to eliminate slavery and trafficking in our supply chains and beyond.
